A Welschriesling with elegance: herbaceous, stonily sparse and with proper tension! A tightly woven, fine version of what is usually drunk in the southern Styrian lands.

Vinification

Welschriesling vom Opok 2019 from Tauss

Welschriesling can also do terroir, and Alice and Roland demonstrate this incomparably. The vines grow on the southeastern part of the winery, where the soils have a bigger clay content than further west. Harvest and selection of the grapes takes place carefully by hand in early October. Spontaneous fermentation in small, used wooden barrels and then bottled unfiltered. The wine has considerable tension and cool elegance and makes an excellent universal food companion. Tightly woven, fine mouthfeel with great extract, all while being only 11% alcohol and 0.2g/L residual sugar. An extremely complex, fine-bodied version of what you usually drink in the southern Styrian lands.
