Leithaberg Weiß 2021

On the Leithaberg, Neuburger is grown relatively often, but rarely finds its way into the bottle as a single-varietal wine of reasonably good quality. With Martin and Adriana's version, there is a turnaround and takes on a completely different dimension, because Neuburger cultivated on pure limestone with patience, a lot of sensitivity and virtuosity then does quite differently. Delicate yellow fruits, nuts, hay, herbs and pears, accompanied by a very light, floral touch. Very drinkable, slightly creamy and lingers long. Martin and Adriana are masters of elevage, a term that refers to the art in the process of winemaking from fermentation to bottling. After a few hours of maceration, the must, including the stems, is spontaneously fermented and aged in used barriques. The Leithaberg Weiß 2021 initially needs some air to fully develop, but with a little patience it then shows an extremely elegant side and is suitable as an excellent, universal food companion.
