Francesco Cirelli
Francesco Cirelli is considered the revolutionary of Abruzzo, waking the region to the east of Rome from its slumber. With his crystal-clear Pecorino, Trebbiano and Montepulciano, he joins the ranks of great winemakers such as Pepe, Valentini and De Fermo.
"I love the power that wine has to bring people together. There are no borders or political differences".

Cirelli wines are bursting with saltiness and minerality and underline the potential of Abruzzo
Francesco produces two different styles of wine. The first, made from bought-in grapes, matures briefly in steel tanks and stands for freshness and liveliness. His Trebbiano d'Abruzzo impresses with its brightness and salty notes, while the Montepulciano d'Abruzzo is balanced and refreshingly tart.
"The power of wine to bring people together fascinates me", explains Francesco Cirelli. "With wine you get to know people. There are no borders or political differences."
The grapes from the estate's own vineyard, on the other hand, are all matured in amphorae and have a completely different characteristic. The Trebbiano d'Abruzzo is complex, with different dimensions and a more intense texture, while the Montepulciano d'Abruzzo is structured, youthfully fresh, but also with the potential to mature.
For us, Francesco Cirelli is the new discovery of the year, waking the sleepy Abruzzo region from its slumber with his mineral Pecorino, Trebbiano and Montepulciano.
