Franz Weninger is considered a pioneer of the modern red wine style in Burgenland.

In addition to Blaufränkisch, Franz Weninger has a great pioneering spirit running through his veins. In conversation, you can really sense that he is driven to try things out, to question things, to find his own truths. Everything to find the special, the true or the new.

Together with his wife Petra Gratz-Weninger, Franz Weninger has made it to the top of Austrian red wines with a focus on the grape variety Blaufränkisch. The natural wines are puristic and unadulterated, delicate, juicy and at the same time always complex and structured.

Weninger was the first organic working winemaker in the Mittelburgenland as early as 2005.

His father Franz Sr. already stood for innovation with the winery, not least through the decision to be the first winery in Central Burgenland to convert to "organic". Before Franz junior took over the parental business in 2012, he was already responsible for the parcels of land on the Hungarian side in Balf near Sopron, which also belonged to the family. A project that Franz senior entrusted to his son at the time as a start.
