Kalkoven Sylvaner 2023

The masterpiece - the silent giant. It was recently awarded 5th place in the premium segment at Vinum, and we are extremely touched. The Sylvaner Kalkofen 2023 is a perfectly carved Grand Cru from massive limestone rocks from the vineyard of the same name. The neighbors? None other than the Rings brothers. Brutal tension with a cool, mineral straightforwardness and fine herbal spice a lá Silvaner, with a pinch of salt on the finish. At 250 meters above sea level above Bad Dürkheim, massive limestone cliffs, old vineyards and a cool climate come together in perfection. The result? A very unique style of wine with a clear signature that stands out radically from the Palatinate mainstream. The grapes are destemmed and gently pressed, matured for 12 months on the lees in Palatinate semi-vintage and stoneware. Cool, mineral, salty, the fruit is completely reduced, almost invisible. Spice, structure and a discreet use of wood dominate, which is by no means overpowering. Like all Marie Adler wines, it is bottled unfiltered, without fining and with minimal addition of sulphur. This is what the new generation of the Palatinate tastes like.
