Village Rosé 2023

A parcel of Portugieser on red sandstone meets a parcel of Dornfelder on limestone, mixed with a little Gamay and Frühburgunder. Wild, but masterfully realized. For us, certainly one of the best rosé wines at the moment. At 250 meters above sea level above Bad Dürkheim, massive limestone cliffs, old vineyards and a cool climate come together in perfection. The result? A very unique style of wine with a clear signature that stands out radically from the Palatinate mainstream. The grapes are destemmed and gently pressed, matured for 12 months on the lees in Palatinate semi-vintage and stoneware. Cool, minerally, salty, the fruit is not striking, but wonderfully captured. Spice, structure and a subtle use of wood dominate. Like all Marie Adler wines, it is bottled unfiltered, without fining and with minimal addition of sulphur. This is what the new generation of the Palatinate tastes like.
