"The vine and the wine are fantastic tools to connect with yourself, with others, with the plants and with the stars. The path is infinite, with endless possibilities."

Melon de Bourgogne as a terroir ambassador

The Domaine Luneau-Papin is one of the great innovators in the Nantais, where the Muscadet vineyards are found. It was born in the 1990s through a love story - that between Pierre Luneau and Marie Papin.

Pierre took over the vineyard in the commune of Le Landreau from his parents, while Monique took over the running of the family vineyard in Chapelle-Heulin from her mother Jeannette and father Auguste Papin.

At that time, the two belonged to the small movement that recognised the potential of the Melon de Bourgogne grape variety as a terroir translator early on, because it makes extremely sensitive demands on climate and winemakers and thus expresses its origin in an unadulterated way.

The wines exemplify how texturally and structurally strong the grape variety can be and what a wealth of expressive possibilities it possesses.

Luneau Papin has an excellent portfolio of unique plots.

The domaine has a mixture of very different soil structures, planted with old vines from the 1940s. From the late 1970s, they began to promote these unique qualities of their individual plots, emphasising that there is not just one Muscadet, but many different ones.

The terroir consists of granite, gneiss and mica schist and is divided between the L'd'Or, Les Pierres Blanches and Clos des Allés plots.
