From Darmstadt to Anjou: Liv Vincendeau realises her wine dream in the Loire Valley

Liv Vincendeau is originally from Darmstadt. After studying chemistry in York and Strasbourg, she moved to the Loire Valley in 2000 to train in viticulture and oenology. Enraptured by the beauty of this picturesque province, she then fulfilled her big dream in 2014 and founded her own domaine on the hills above the village of Rochefort sur Loire, in the protected landscape of La Corniche Angevine south of Angers.

Liv's vineyards are planted with very old Chenin Blanc vines and, since 2015, with some Grolleau Noir. Organic farming from the beginning, meticulously biodynamic since 2019.

High-altitude vineyards and a terroir in a class of its own

Green and purple slate, spilite, phyllite (all of volcanic origin) and quartz give their wines considerable tautness and distinctive character. Textured, charming, finely balanced and yet always accessible. Chenin Blanc is a chameleon among grape varieties and demonstrates that it can be used not only to produce world-class still wines, but also to deliver properly with carbonic acid. Through careful and long pressing, Liv breathes every ounce of DNA of this wonderful place into her wines.

From Rochefort with Love, Cheers!
