"Our wine must be stable, without faults, drinkable, enjoyable and above all: we must like it, otherwise it will not leave our cellar. "

– Nadja und Andrej Miklušičák

The one who walks barefoot on the bare earth - so the Slovak proverb about Naboso.

On the western foothills of the Carpathians, not far from the Austrian border, the newly in love couple Nadja and Andrej have settled down with their 5 ha project Naboso in the small Slovakian town of Svätý Jur. Nadja is originally from Germany and already worked on a vineyard in Austria. Andrej has already been a winemaker for 10 years and shows with a lot of energy, charisma and technical understanding that he simply loves making wine. This calmness, precision and sensitivity also radiate from their wines, which are only released after about 3 years of maturity.

Wine is their passion, their drive and their art. "It is an incomparable feeling of happiness when we receive positive feedback from wine lovers who love our wines as much as we do. The whole process fills us with joy and pride, because we don't just make wine, we make great wine. Our wines have to be stable, flawless, drinkable and, above all, delicious - because they have to excite us ourselves before they leave our cellar," says Nadja.

The vineyards in the Malokarpatskás region are planted with Welschriesling, Traminer, Blaufränkisch, Grüner Veltliner and a little Müller Thurgau, just like their Austrian neighbours in Burgenland and Weinviertel, and grow on rich soils of sandy granite, which gives the wine a great tightness. The vines at Naboso are about 30 to 40 years.

Naboso stands for smooth and exiting natural wines with character

The first documents of the manor house date back to the 17th century. After the old wooden door at the entrance, the stone staircase leads down to the old cellar. With a lot of work and passion, Andrej has developed this wonderful place for winemaking. All the work in the cellar is done ruthlessly and thoughtfully, i.e. low-intervention, gravity is how the must gets into the respective barrels.

The same principle applies in the vineyard, careful manual work according to organic and biodynamic models. The only addition used at Naboso is a small amount of sulphur before bottling, as low as possible and only when Nadja and Andrej think the wine needs it.

In the cellar at Naboso, the emphasis is on patient and gentle ageing.

After longer maceration periods for the white wines and somewhat shorter ones for the reds, the wines are matured for 12 months in used oak and acacia barrels and are bottled unfiltered. Naboso's natural wines are supple and energetic, constantly evolving and always wanting to be discovered - in the case of the orange wine Doma you can follow this perfectly, and in the end it has also become one of our favourite wines.

A tribute to this wonderful region, from which we will certainly be hearing and tasting a lot more. Cheers!
