New arrival at Drops: the shooting star from Lake Balaton, Hungary: Peter Nagyvaradi!
During our trip to Hungary in September, we got to know an up-and-coming winemaker: Peter Nagyváradi. We were immediately taken with his story and his natural wines, which exude a sinful hedonism. Peter draws inspiration from his home in Villány and his grandfather's leading role at the Research Institute of Viticulture in Pécs. During his wine travels to New Zealand and Chile, he discovered his passion for natural wines and organically farmed vineyards. In Europe, he found like-minded people who shared his philosophy.
Vibrant natural wines that exude a sinful hedonism ⚡️
Peter cultivates two hectares in five different plots and sources the grapes for his entry-level wines from local organic producers. His main goal? To express the diversity of the region through old, traditional vineyards on volcanic soils while remaining in harmony with nature. 🍇🍃
When making wine, Peter relies on traditional methods: The white wines are gently pressed with an old hand press after a short maceration period, while the red wines are fermented using the carbonic maceration method inspired by the Beaujolais tradition. Expect lively, fruity wines with plenty of juiciness and drinkability. Ageing takes place in used barriques before the natural wines are bottled unfiltered and without added sulphur.
We look forward to sharing Peter's natural wines with you - now in the store! 💍
