Serragghia Fanino 2022

A blend of the two local grape varieties Catarratto and Pignatello from sixty-year-old bush vines that grow on sandy volcanic soil at one of the highest points on Pantelleria. This rugged, 15 km long stretch of land with 7000 inhabitants is closer to Tunisia than to Sicily and is better known for its hot springs and capers than for wine. The vines are never treated by Giotto and Gabrio, as the unique climate and the many winds regulate the vines on their own. After a short pressing, the destemmed grapes are fermented spontaneously and then aged for seven months on the skins in terracotta amphorae that Gabrio has buried in the vineyard. Fannino 2022 is incredibly fragrant and has a unique radiance: salty strawberries with freshly squeezed blood oranges and Mediterranean spices and herbs open up. Mediterranean mojo. A unique natural wine that is unlike any other. Juicy with expressive energy that is kept in check by the fine tannin and acidity structure.
