EThe Julienas En Riziere 2024 comes from old Gamay vines reaching deep into the pink granite of the appellation — sparse soils that give the vines no choice but to go deep. Organic farming, strict hand-harvesting, no compromise. 20 days of gentle semi-carbonic maceration, always deliberately extended to develop maximum structure and finesse. No pressure, no rush — the fruit extracts itself on its own terms. Spontaneous fermentation, then nine months aging in used 228-liter pièces and concrete. The result is a Gamay with real substance: dark cherry, crushed blackberry, white pepper, a fine veil of tobacco. The tannins are dense but supple — granite minerality that carries rather than presses. The acidity holds everything in tension, the finish is long, spicy, cool. Unfiltered, minimal sulphur. Drink now with air, or lay it down for another two years. Either is a good decision. Like all Domaine Obora's natural wines, bottled unfiltered with minimal sulphur.
