Leithaberg Weiß 2023

Neuburger is grown relatively frequently and widely on the Leithaberg, but rarely finds its way into the bottle as a single-varietal wine of reasonably good quality. At Lichtenberger González, however, this takes on a completely different dimension, because old Neuburger vines grown on pure limestone with a sure instinct then whistle in a completely different way. Delicate ripe fruit, some walnut, hay, herbs and pears, accompanied by a floral touch. The Leithaberg Weiß is very drinkable, slightly creamy and not a cerebral wine; the focus here is on drinking pleasure with sophistication. Martin and Adriana are masters of elevage, a term that refers to the art of winemaking from fermentation to bottling. After a few hours of maceration, the must is fermented spontaneously and matured in used barriques. The Leithaberg Weiß 2023 initially needs a little air to fully develop, but with a little patience it reveals an extremely elegant side and is an excellent, universal accompaniment to food. Like all wines from Lichtenberger González unfiltered and bottled with minimal addition of sulphur.
