Vinification

Welschriesling Rechnitz 2021 from Thomas Straka

Old Welschriesling vines on crystalline slate give the wine a great precision and minerality. Complex and multi-layered with a fine herbal spiciness on the palate: Thomas Straka shows what this grape variety is capable of. Spontaneously fermented and aged for one year in steel tanks on the full lees. In the glass, there is a good portion of ripe, yellow fruit and a light smokiness from the slate soil, supported by a fresh, juicy acidity. Welschriesling is banging, that much is certain.
