Chardonnay Horizont 2023 from Herbert Zillinger

What a Chardonnay! Creamy texture meets stony barrenness - a tension that is addictive. The 20-year-old vines are grown on limestone soils in Ollersdorf and are organically farmed by hand. Ripe pear, fresh apple and a hint of spice, then suddenly it comes: this Zillinger minerality, like an echo from the Weinviertel. Powerful, tightly meshed, but with a dancing lightness and no wood flavor, as it is matured in concrete. A Chardonnay like a view over the horizon - liberating, surprising, Francophile! Like all natural wines from Herbert Zillinger, spontaneously fermented and bottled unfiltered.
