Our take

Direct-pressed Syrah with a dark, almost mystical core. Bold or provocative? Both! On the palate, Balsamia reveals a breathtaking finesse: highly complex, salty, with a depth and length that turn every expectation on its head.

Vinification

Balsamia 2025 Magnum by Christian Tschida

100% Syrah, bottled exclusively in magnums for the first time as a standalone wine. The Balsamia grapes grow on limestone soils near Lake Neusiedl on the Leithaberg, specifically in Purbach. Cultivated biodynamically and meticulously hand-harvested. Pressed immediately, natural spontaneous fermentation, no filtration, no sulfur. What remains is the unadulterated expression of a vineyard plot and a philosophy. In the glass, a dark, almost brick-red pink that already hints that this is no light summer wine. On the nose: black heart cherries, balsamic herbs, a hint of lavender, and crushed rosemary. Balsamia 2025 offers a finely woven structure that’s to die for, a cool backbone, and acidity that supports the wine without being sharp. Tschida crafts a rosé that defies categorization.
