Kirchenpeace Riesling 2023

The Kirchenpeace Riesling 2023 comes from the Leistadter Kirchenstück, which is also the oldest parcel in the village. The test number is omitted as the wine is bottled unfiltered - instead, the vineyard is described with an artificial name. The parcel? A treasure trove of vines up to 60 years old on limestone, which are tended and harvested exclusively by hand throughout the year. After whole cluster pressing, spontaneous fermentation takes place in small, used wooden barrels. The style of the Kirchenpeace is much cooler than other Rieslings from the Palatinate. At 250 meters above sea level above Bad Dürkheim, massive limestone cliffs, old vineyards and a cool climate come together in perfection. The result? A very unique style of wine with a clear signature that stands out radically from the Palatinate mainstream. Spiciness, structure and a discreet use of wood dominate, which is by no means overbearing. Like all Marie Adler wines, it is bottled unfiltered, without fining and with minimal addition of sulphur. This is what the new generation of the Palatinate tastes like.
