Vinification

Gewürztraminer 350 N.N. 2023 from Odinstal

A different kind of Gewürztraminer: quiet, focused and cool. The vines grow at an altitude of 350 meters, in a barren terroir that gives the wine its tension. Biodynamic vineyard work, hand-picking and spontaneous fermentation are a matter of course. Unlike many loud representatives of this variety, the fruit here remains restrained: subtle lychee, grapefruit and melon peel, plus surprisingly earthy, stony notes. The palate is slender, animating and with a salty trace, which is supported by fine tannins in the finish. A Gewürztraminer that seeks elegance rather than opulence - unique in its cool style. Like all natural wines from Odinstal, bottled unfiltered.

In the 1990s, it was unimaginable to make wine so high up in the Palatinate. However, in times of climate change, the Odinstal vineyard, which sits 350 meters above the town of Wachenheim, is set to make history.
