Thomas Straka vinifies his Blaufränkisch Grünschiefer 2020 in large neutral wooden barrels, because the grapes should set the tone and not the wood. We find an intense fruit of sour cherry and blackberry, rounded off with subtle, smoky notes. With a little air and time in the glass, the slate tone comes slightly through. A juicy, crisp Blaufränkisch that stands for the new, modern Burgenland!
