Carrousel de Tête is a fun project for everyone, a playground and laboratory - for everyone who plays here.

Carrousel de Tête is a mini boutique winery on the German Wine Route in the Palatinate and literally the playground of Frederic Groß, his family and friends, who in 2018 acquired a small plot of 40-year-old vines with Riesling and Silvaner right next to the house. Frederic actually runs a graphic design studio and true to the motto "Get away from the computer, out into nature", he and his team are now swapping Photoshop for pruning shears to let off some steam. A total of 0.5 hectares of vineyards around Deidesheim and Meckenheim are now being cultivated. For the time being, this is the size of the vineyard.

Time and patience as well as fun and creativity are probably the appropriate keywords for Carrousel de Tête, which in German means something like "head merry-go-round" - however, you won't get dizzy, the wines trigger maximum mental cinema and delight the soul & palate. They are ultra juicy, slightly playful, inviting and yet always on the serious side. Small yields by nature, no intervention in the cellar, gentle ageing on the lees and bottled unfiltered. Everything can, nothing must - we are very excited to see in which direction the carousel will turn.

Interview with Frederic Groß from Carrousel de Tête

What is the concept behind Carrousel de Tête and where will it go?

Frederic: There is no real concept, we are making independent and hopefully trinky wines from old vineyards, with minimal influence. It's a fun project for everyone, a playground and laboratory - for everyone who plays here.

What makes a great wine for you? Or what is important to you personally in a wine?

Frederic:Individuality and juicyness.

How do you see the development of the German natural wine scene compared to other countries?

Frederic: We're still sitting in the sandbox, but the first ones are already swinging, that's something.

Dear Frederic, thank you very much for the interview!
