Our take

The Hirschkäfer is one of the best among skin contact wines. The Chardonnay provides structure, while the Sauvignon ensures aromatic complexity. Andi Tscheppe conjures every ounce of terroir into an irresistible orange wine.

Vinification

Hirschkäfer 2022 by Andreas Tscheppe

50% Chardonnay and 50% Sauvignon Blanc grown on poor Opok soils. Andreas Tscheppe cultivates uncompromisingly biodynamically and places great emphasis on manual labor and biodiversity. The Hirschkäfer 2022 is fermented on the skins for a total of 35 days and then matured in used 500-liter barrels. After 18 months on the lees, this irresistible mash fermenter is bottled and makes wine lovers all over the world smile. From herbal to earthy and fruity, this natural wine delights with an almost endless variety of aromas. With a little air, it becomes slightly tea-like. Bombastic! Like all of Andreas Tscheppe's natural wines, it is unfiltered and bottled with a minimal addition of sulphur.
