Franz plays with Szürke, Fehér & Kék

This special orange wine comes from the chalky upper part of the Frettner vineyard and unites the entire Pinot family: Pinot Noir, Pinot Blanc and Pinot Gris. What was originally a planting mistake became the inspiration for a new Weninger style in 2018 - and since 2021, Blanc and Gris have been fermenting together on the skins, while the juice of the directly pressed Pinot Noir forms the base. The grapes of Franz Plays with Szürke, Fehér & Kek are carefully harvested by hand and fermented spontaneously; the entire vinification process is designed for minimal intervention and maximum expressiveness. In the glass, the wine shimmers somewhere between orange and rosé, with a fine tannin that is noticeable but never dominant. Aromatically, it shows notes of ripe stone fruit, rose petals and a hint of herbal spice - complex, floral and with delicate oxidation. Despite its structure, this natural wine remains light-footed and lively, a real crowd-pleaser for fans of amber wines with high standards. Ideal with grilled vegetables or mild cheese - or simply on its own on a warm summer evening. Like all wines from Weingut Weninger, unfiltered and bottled with little sulphur.
