Sauvignon Blanc "Grassnitzberg" 2019

The Grassnitzberg plot is one of the oldest vineyards at the Tement winery and has been part of the family estate since the 1950s. The Sauvignon Blanc vines with a remarkable age of up to 70 years root very deep and ripen very late due to the south-east orientation. A Sauvignon Blanc with concentrated terroir power, and all without lushness. We find a cool herbal spice, a grippy mouthfeel and a limestone minerality par excellence that makes this one of the best Sauvignon's in Austria. Elegantly intense extract and a lingering finish. Armin and Stefan Tement also rely on selective hand harvesting and gentle aging in large, neutral oak barrels, as they do with all their other wines - in total, the Grassnitzberg spent 24 months on the fine lees before being bottled unfiltered and unfined. The precision and delicacy achieved with this wine is testimony to the great class this winery has perfected over decades.
