The nose is far from a classic Pinot Blanc aroma, with complex herbal aromas accompanied by slight reductive hints. The limestone on which the Pinot Blanc grows is clearly noticeable in the aroma - 100% Leithaberg. So chalky and salty, wow! Definitely not a what-ever Pinot Blanc for a social gathering, this wine wants to be discussed. On the palate there is a blatant precision and a good pull to the palate, stony and with a good bite. The wood is wonderfully integrated and by no means overemphasized - it merely lends some structure. Like every wine from Lichtenberger González, the 2021 Pinot Blanc is given a long period of maturation on the fine lees before being bottled unfiltered. Selective hand-picking and spontaneous fermentation in used wood. All handcrafted with great care and patience, Adriana and Martin clearly demonstrate the signature of their winery here. This is what the new Burgenland tastes like!
