Weißburgunder 2020

The nose is far from being a classic Pinot Blanc aroma, with complex herbal aromas accompanied by hints of sherry due to the oxidative ageing. The limestone on which the Pinot Blanc grows is clearly noticeable in the aromas. Definitely not a what-ever Pinot Blanc for a social gathering, the wine wants to be discussed. On the palate, there is a crisp precision and good pull to the palate, stony and with good bite. The wood is wonderfully integrated and not at all overemphasised - it just adds some structure. Like every wine at Lichtenberger Gonzalez, the Weissburgunder 2020 is given a long time to mature on the lees before being bottled unfiltered. Selective hand harvesting and spontaneous fermentation in used wood. All handmade with great care and patience, Adriana and Martin clearly demonstrate the signature of their winery here.
