Vinification

Sauvignon Hohenegg 2019 from Tauss

The south-east to south-west exposed Hohenegg site is characterised by barren, lime-marly Opok soils. Alice and Roland Tauss work here on partly extreme steep slopes and with careful manual labour. The berries are somewhat smaller and are also harvested a little later on 1 October than other wines at the Tauss'. The must is matured and aged in partly new, small and large wooden barrels. The wood is noticeable, but wonderfully integrated and never obstreperous. After about two to three years on the lees, the natural wine is bottled unfiltered and without sulphur. Close-knit and powerful with a long finish, the Sauvignon Hohenegg 2019 is a first-class terroir ambassador with excellent storage potential that reflects the South Styrian terroir in a unique way.
