Our take

Anjou, oh Anjou! A delicately reductive Chenin with a creamy mouthfeel. A little gunpowder on the nose with more riper fruits. With a little air, the Grand Vau really starts to shine!

Vinification

Grand Vau 2022 from Terra Vita Vinum

100% Chenin Blanc from the Grand Vau vineyard in the commune of Moźe on the eastern bank of the Loire in Anjou Noir, classified as Anjou Blanc. The old vines grow on volcanic rhyolite, also known as porphyry. In contrast to Bigottiere, Grand Vau is somewhat creamier and fuller-bodied, making it more accessible with a riper aroma. The wood is present, but provides a good structure and is not overpowering. After slow pressing and spontaneous fermentation, the must is matured for 12 months in demi-muids. The amount of sulphur added varies depending on the vintage; a small amount is added to the 2022. Like all natural wines from Terra Vita Vinum, the Grand Vau is bottled unfiltered.
