Riesling 2022

Georg's third vintage: 2022 was an extremely dry and hot year, therefore more fruit than 2021. In any case, they all deliver properly. Selective manual work and crushed with hands and feet, spontaneously fermented with the vineyard's own yeasts in used Palatinate barriques from the neighbouring forest and left on the skins for approx. 4 days, racked off after 18 months on the full lees including dirt and bacon fat (i.e. no separation of the lees) and bottled unfiltered with minimal sulphur addition, resulting in a wonderful texture and a certain meatiness. The microclimate around Großkarlsbach is somewhat warmer than in other parts of the Palatinate and lends the wines a certain yellow-fruity exoticism. A classic Palatinate Riesling that is a true reflection of its origins. On the palate with plenty of tang and tension, this is what the young Palatinate tastes like.
