Our take

Boom! Explosion of elderberry, thyme, lemon balm and lovage - without any cheesiness. A fine-meshed, intense orange wine par exellence without being heavy.

Vinification

Erdreich 2021 from Schmitt

Farmed according to biodynamic guidelines, Erdreich is made from 50/50 Gelber Muskateller and Scheurebe. After careful hand-harvesting, the grapes are first processed single-varietally and undergo a four-week mash contact. With wild yeasts from the vineyard and cellar, the natural wine then ferments spontaneously and is aged for one year in 1,200l wooden barrels. Without any sulphur additions and bottled unfiltered. Daniel and Bianka Schmitt clearly demonstrate here that they have an invariably good hand for orange wines.
